Friends, fashion and Half United fight against hunger at the Exchange

Wilmington, NC—January 15, 2010—A group of local, fashion savvy women committed to changing the world invite others to join their cause. In a quest to fight hunger through fashion, The Exchange is collaborating with humanitarian food and merchandise company Half United, commonly called HALF, for a swap of clothing and fashion accessories.

Hoping to raise money to feed people in need, The Exchange is set to take place on March 6th at downtown art gallery, Parallelogram. The Exchange invites participants to select 1-3 new or gently worn fashion items, including clothing, shoes and accessories, to swap at the event. “Not only will this help feed those in need, but people will also leave at the end of the night with a few new additions to their wardrobe,” says one of the event coordinators, Lauren Danaher. The Exchange proceeds from ticket sales and additional donations will go to Half United for the purchase of food for hungry families. Also joining the cause, local artists will be featured and progressive rock group, Rio Bravo provide the night’s music.

Coordinators of The Exchange have teamed up with co-founder of HALF, Carmin Black. HALF fights hunger both domestically and abroad by partnering with established feeding programs already in place. Currently established partnerships have been made in Wilmington, NC and Port au Price, Haiti. Every time a HALF product is purchased, it helps feed a hungry family in need. Money is raised to feed people through monetary donations and sales of HALF merchandise, which will be available at The Exchange. HALF splits their giving dollars between overseas efforts and the feeding efforts that take place on US soil. To find out more about HALF visit www.halfunited.com.
